The people of the Ohana

Most of my characters are based on real people. Some are a combination of several people I know, including myself. In my novel, The Ohana, people have commented on the amazing characters. Here is what one reviewer, Veritas Vincit, who gave me 5 stars on Amazon said -"The crafting of the characters that make up this story is slow and brilliant, giving us a glimpse into the lives and souls of accessible and honest characters who have faced real challenges in life."

I have found the most amazing characters are found in the people we know, the people we meet, the people we love. If we listen with our hearts as well as our ears, then we can capture the essence of real people in our lives and re-tell their stories in a compelling way and the novel or screenplay that is the result of their stories will reflect their heart. When I write historical-a genre I love as well as paranormal, I try to drown myself in their world. To feel what they feel, react the way they would have reacted according to the boundaries of their world. I think The Ohana got so many fabulous reviews because its based on true stories of real people. I believe we find our best characters and stories this way. The praise for The Ohana isn't mine, it belongs to the people whose lives have greatly enriched mine. To all the amazing people of The Ohana, starting with my mother, father, and grandparents, all who have passed away, I send my love-Mahalo and Aloha, ahui you, Malama pono. Thank you, Goodbye, till we meet again and May God Bless.
